Meet Teacher Vicki!
My husband Scott and I moved down to the Olympia area in 2005 from Redmond, where we had lived for over 30 years. My husband was offered a job "down south" and the timing was perfect for a move and we loved the Olympia area. Our children, Jordan and Cacey were finished with their college educations and living independently in Portland and Seattle. I had previously taught cooperative preschool through Bellevue Community College for over 20 years at Pine Lake Cooperative Preschool. Both of our children attended Redmond Co-op and I was hooked on cooperative preschools, as a parent and an educator.
My degree is in Early Childhood Education and I've been so pleased and excited to be teaching the 2&1/2 year olds throught the 5 year olds at LPCP. South Sound Community College provides constant workshops and classes for the co-op teachers, as well as an excellent program for parents.
I look forward to continuing to build our great preschool, along with Louise McKee, our Toddler teacher, and Karen Anderson, our parent educator from SPSCC this year, along with all of the hard working parents we are fortunate enough to have enrolled. It's exciting and encouraging to work with a staff and parents who are so involved with their children's education and socialization process. This job provides a wealth of talents and ideas and education that is developmentally appropriate for all ages enrolled. It also enables me to continue getting my "little child fix" which is the best part of working. I look forward to another great year with fantastic parents, children and staff!
Meet Teacher Louise
Hello, I would like to introduce myself, my name is Louise McKee. I am an alumni parent, and I am very thrilled to be a part of the Lacey Parent Co-op preschool again. Both of my girls were enrolled in classes here over ten years ago. At that time, I had an active role on the board, on committees, and in the classroom as a parent helper. My husband, Kevin and I have two daughters, Sophie, a high school senior and Sarah, a sophomore at Timberline High School. Their first introduction to school routines and making friends, were in classes here at Lacey Parent Co-op Preschool. I believe their experiences here have contributed to their success as students.
During this past year, I taught the Caterpillar Class and I am looking forward to another successful year of teaching toddlers. Before coming to work here, I volunteered with Girl Scouts of Western Washington, Olympia Junior Programs and in the North Thurston Public Schools. My teaching experience includes teaching at Steamboat Island Co-op Preschool as well as substitute teaching at Lacey Parent Cooperative Preschool. My education includes a Bachelor’s degree from The Evergreen State College and an Elementary Teacher’s Certification. In addition to my college education, I have continued to pursue my education in early childhood education with supplemental reading and several workshops offered through the local school districts.
Once again, this fall, I am delighted to have an opportunity to work with parents, and young children.
Looking forward to a wonderful school year,
Louise McKee 360-491-2504 360-491-2504 360-491-2504 360-491-2504
