Parent Education Articles
Every month the Family Educator will email a new article based on parenting or child development topics to all preschool families. These articles are not required reading but are for your interest only. You can also use the articles to do a make up for a missed parent education meeting. The Family Educator will also post the monthly article as well as articles on other topics on the website.
If the monthly article does not interest you, you can review the website for other topics.
To do a make up using the article, you can either fill out the form online from the website after reading the article and email to: karen0100@comcast.net , or you can download it and put the hard copy in my folder at school.
Hello Everyone. My name is Karen A. and I work part time as your Preschool Family Educator from South Puget Sound Community College. This will be my 11th year with the Lacey Cooperative Preschool. I am a resource to you if you have questions about our child’s development or behavior or, if you just want some feed back on how to solve a challenge you may be experiencing with your child at home or school. To learn more about my role at the coop and the affiliation with the college read pages 29 and 30 in your handbook.
My career experience related to early childhood education includes a BA degree majoring in early childhood education, teaching in two Parent Cooperative preschools for six years, and 18 years of experience being a Parent/ Family Educator for SPSCC at three cooperative preschools.
Both of my children attended coop preschools years ago so I have also been involved as a parent! My husband Tom and I have two grown children ages 29 and 26.
I look forward to getting to know all of you this year. I will be visiting your child’s classroom once a month. Feel free to approach me when you see me at school if you have any questions or concerns or need some suggestions. You can always leave me a note in my folder and you can also contact me via the college at 754-7711 ext. 4118. I will check messages and return calls on my work days which are Tuesday’s and Wednesday’s.
